BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable product that contains the biological compound botulinum toxin type A. When injected, the toxin temporarily prevents the targeted muscle from contracting; thus, the wrinkling generated from its contraction is smoothed away. Results typically last about three to four months and can be extended with occasional follow-up treatment.

What Are the Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic can address numerous common concerns for both women and men who are looking for non-surgical options for facial rejuvenation. This popular cosmetic injectable can reduce signs of:

The BOTOX® Cosmetic procedure involves the delicate and precise injection of the solution into the areas targeted for rejuvenation. In many cases, the entire treatment lasts no more than about 15 minutes. In fact, BOTOX® injections are often referred to as a “lunchtime” procedure since the treatment can typically be performed in under an hour with no downtime required.

JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC
JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC can often be ideal for both lip augmentation and diminishing signs of fine lines around the mouth. This option has shown to be effective for fairly severe wrinkles and folds, including those that appear from the nose to the sides of the mouth. 

JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus

Restylane®

Restylane® Silk
Restylane® Silk can be an ideal option for patients who would like to add volume to the lips or minimize the appearance of lines around the mouth. This product is designed to provide subtle, yet noticeable and natural-looking rejuvenation.

Restylane® Kysse
One of the newest options in the Restylane® line of products, Restylane® Kysse also focuses on enhancing and augmenting the appearance of the lips; however, it contains special particles that can help make the results feel as natural as they can look, even when smiling, kissing, and making strong facial expressions.

Restylane-L®
Restylane-L® is a highly versatile product that can address “marionette lines”, smile lines, and hollows in the tear troughs. It can also restore fullness and contour to the lips. Restylane-L® contains a lidocaine component to further minimize the potential for discomfort during the procedure.

Restylane® Lyft

Restylane® Refyne and Defyne
Restylane® Refyne and Defyne offer similar benefits, but which option is more ideal depends on the severity of concerns. Refyne may be recommended for mild to moderate smile lines and nasolabial folds, while Defyne may be advised for more severe signs of those aesthetic conditions. Both products have been formulated in a way that can help patients rejuvenate these areas while minimizing the potential for negative effects on the ability to make natural and full facial expressions.

The effects of many Restylane® products can last as long as six months or more, even up to a year or longer for some individuals.

PRP - Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy

PRP, which stands for platelet-rich plasma, is an innovative treatment option designed to renew the health and appearance of the skin with the use of natural blood components. These natural healing properties can ultimately help minimize the appearance of wrinkles, mild acne scars, and facial lines to produce a more youthful and refreshed look. Additionally, PRP can often be used to address stretch marks in other body areas, and may even be ideal for some patients who experience thinning hair. PRP therapy can also be added to treatments such as DermaPen® skin needling to enhance the rejuvenative benefits of that procedure. 

A small amount of the patient’s blood is taken at the start of the PRP treatment. The blood is then carefully processed to extract platelet-rich plasma, which contains growth factors that will be injected into the areas targeted for treatment. Many PRP procedures can be completed in approximately one hour and usually require little to no downtime.

KYBELLA® - Double-Chin Reduction

KYBELLA® is one of the most innovative and unique injectable treatments available. It is the first injectable solution to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of excess fat in the chin/upper neck region. KYBELLA® procedures are relatively quick treatments that involve precise injections delivered into targeted areas of excess fat under the chin. The KYBELLA® solution contains deoxycholic acid, which is a molecule that is natural to the human body. The molecule is capable of breaking down dietary fat cells, which can then be gradually and naturally filtered out of the body, ultimately leading to enhanced contours and a reduction in the appearance of a “double-chin.” 

KYBELLA® treatment typically requires only about one or two days of downtime. A series of KYBELLA® treatments may be recommended to achieve optimal results. With that in mind, one of the major benefits of this procedure is that the effects can last a lifetime without the need for retreatment later, as long as patients maintain a healthy diet and keep weight fluctuations to a minimum. 

It is important to note that KYBELLA® is capable of improving signs of a double-chin caused by excess fat, but not excess skin. For aesthetic conditions caused by inelastic skin under the chin, a surgical neck lift, facelift, or perhaps even the non-surgical FaceTite procedure may be recommended. We will evaluate your concerns during the initial consultation and help you determine whether KYBELLA® is an ideal option for your needs.

Will I Need a Recovery Period After Injectable Treatment?

Most patients do not require a period of recovery after cosmetic injections. While specific recovery information is dependent on each individual’s unique response to treatment, patients can generally expect a mild degree of bruising and swelling in the areas targeted for injection after the procedure. These effects should dissipate rather quickly, and can often be well-concealed with makeup. 

Overall, cosmetic injectable treatments are among the least invasive options available at our practice—no surgery and no general anesthesia are required for these advanced procedures. Most individuals are able to immediately resume their normal daily routines following treatment, without the need for downtime. 

How Long Do the Results of Cosmetic Injectables and Dermal Fillers Last?

The longevity of results from cosmetic injectables and dermal fillers will depend upon several factors, chief of which being the type of injectable that is administered. BOTOX® Cosmetic typically produces results that last about three or four months before significantly fading. Dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® often last up to six months, with some products in the JUVÉDERM® line lasting more than a year for some individuals. Restylane® products usually last about six months, in some cases longer depending on the specific product utilized. The effects of PRP injections may last as long as six months to a year for some patients. In many cases, patients can maintain the aesthetic benefits of cosmetic injectable treatment for extended periods by having occasional follow-up injections.
