Nose Surgery
Rhinoplasty
Refine nasal shape, improve balance & breathe easier
Commonly referred to as a "nose job," rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to adjust the proportions of the nose to achieve greater facial balance or to enhance breathing. When you are bothered by the appearance of your nose, non-surgical solutions capable of alleviating your concerns are often limited. For patients who would like to cosmetically refine their nose, or who would like to correct breathing problems caused by a blocked airway, our skilled plastic surgeon offers rhinoplasty at Luxxery Boutique. Our office would be happy to discuss your particular situation by phone or during a consultation—in either case, please contact our practice to speak with a friendly member of our team.

Am I a Candidate for Rhinoplasty?
There are many reasons why you may consider a rhinoplasty, whether you wish to repair a nasal injury, would like to straighten a septum, or simply dislike the shape or size of your nose. Depending on your concerns and aesthetic goals, rhinoplasty can benefit patients who want to:
- Increase or decrease the size of the nose
- Make the nostrils thinner or wider
- Adjust the angle or projection of the nasal tip
- Straighten humps or crookedness in the nasal bridge
- Refine the nasal bridge to appear thinner or wider
- Improve breathing caused by a deviated septum
Our plastic surgeon will see you during a complimentary consultation to evaluate your particular concerns and wishes for the outcome. If rhinoplasty is the best facial plastic surgery option to achieve your goals, a personalized treatment plan will be developed based on your unique needs.
Ethnic Rhinoplasty
Dr. Hakki performs ethnic rhinoplasty with careful consideration to respect and uphold the features of each patient's cultural characteristics and ethnicity. This type of surgery is designed to enhance the aesthetic look, balance, or breathing passage of the nose and is customized to each individual's concerns and goals across all diverse backgrounds. The bones, cartilage, and structure are uniquely redesigned for form and function while preserving their unique facial composition. During your initial consultation, Dr. Hakki will evaluate your cosmetic and/or medical goals to create a treatment plan for the most natural-looking result.
What Does the Rhinoplasty Procedure Involve?
Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure utilizing general anesthesia. Depending on the extent of surgical work necessary, your rhinoplasty may be performed using the open or closed technique. During open rhinoplasty, the incision is placed on the undersurface of the nose along the natural crease of the columella (the vertical strip of tissue between the nostrils). The incision made during closed rhinoplasty is located internally and offers the advantage of reduced post-operative scarring. For both approaches, Dr. Hakki at Luxxery Boutique will take great care to make incision marks as discreet and natural-looking as possible.
What Can I Expect During Recovery From Rhinoplasty?
After surgery, you will be able to return home the same day as your procedure accompanied by a friend or family member. There is typically some degree of swelling and bruising after rhinoplasty, but these reactions should subside as recovery progresses. A nasal splint, which is a plastic splint taped to the nose to maintain its position during healing, is often used to support your new nasal framework. You should be able to perform light activities, such as household chores, within two to three days of surgery. The splint typically comes off 10 days after your procedure and full activities can be resumed within two to three weeks following surgery.
How Noticeable Are Rhinoplasty Scars?
In most cases, there are two possible locations where incisions will be made for a rhinoplasty. With an open rhinoplasty, the incision will be made on the underside of the nose. This discreet location allows for barely noticeable scarring once the treatment area fully heals as the incision is made in an area with a natural crease. Alternatively, a closed rhinoplasty will not produce external scarring as all of the incisions are created inside of the nose. Dr. Hakki will review the technique to best serve your nasal surgery goals and explain any areas of possible scarring during your consultation prior to the procedure.
How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?
The estimated price range for a rhinoplasty procedure at Luxxery Boutique is $10,000 – $12,000. This typically includes the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, use of the surgical facility, and follow-up care; however, other fees, such as pre-operative testing, blood work, and special equipment may be charged separately. Treatment plans may vary greatly for each patient so it's best to wait until having your initial consultation and evaluation to have an estimated cost in mind. When the time comes, our office staff can review payment and financing options to help you on your way to your cosmetic enhancement goals.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I reduce swelling after rhinoplasty?
To help control swelling after rhinoplasty, our surgeon usually recommends keeping the head elevated (even during sleep), gently applying cold compresses around the nose, getting adequate rest, taking light walks to maintain steady blood flow, protecting your nose from physical contact, and eating anti-inflammatory foods such as fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins to promote healing. In general, most swelling should improve within 6 to 12 weeks following surgery but may take six months to one year to fully resolve.
How do I clean my nose after rhinoplasty?
Depending on the surgical technique utilized, our plastic surgeon may have different recommendations for properly cleaning the nose after rhinoplasty and the details will be included in your aftercare instructions. For reference, it is usually advised to either softly insert a sterile cotton swab (sometimes it is recommended that it be soaked in hydrogen peroxide) and gently circle around the inside of the nostril(s) or carefully use a saline nasal spray or rinse to gently irrigate the nasal passages. Specific instructions will be provided to you in your post-operative guidelines.
When can I blow my nose after rhinoplasty?
To avoid potential injury or damage to the fragile nasal structures after rhinoplasty, patients must avoid blowing their nose for at least two weeks, or as advised on an individual basis by our surgeon. The excessive force of blowing the nose can cause bleeding, increased swelling, and other complications, which can prolong the healing process and may impair the final outcome. Although patients may experience a stuffy or congested feeling following surgery, it can usually be alleviated with a nasal spray or rinse, as directed by our plastic surgeon.
Is rhinoplasty different for men vs. women?
As far as the surgical process, rhinoplasty procedures are generally the same for both men and women. Moreover, our doctor always ensures that each cosmetic procedure is uniquely catered to the individual's concerns and goals regardless of their gender. With that said, the anatomical features and desired cosmetic appearance can be quite different for men and women, requiring distinct scientific artistry and contrasting results. For example, women usually prefer a thinner and less prominent nasal bridge as well as a slightly upturned nasal tip, whereas men may choose a broader nasal bridge and less elevated angle between the upper lip and nose. Our plastic surgeon is highly experienced in rhinoplasty surgery for both men and women and focuses on achieving the most natural-looking outcome for each patient.
How long does rhinoplasty surgery take?
Rhinoplasty surgery generally lasts approximately two to three hours, depending on the treatment plan and unique factors associated with the patient's needs. The procedure is typically performed as an outpatient surgery under general anesthesia, so most patients are able to return home the same day accompanied by a friend or family member.
What is ethnic rhinoplasty?
Ethnic rhinoplasty is a customized approach to nose surgery that enhances the aesthetic look, balance, or breathing passage of the nose while respecting and upholding the features of each patient's cultural characteristics and ethnicity. Dr. Ayman Hakki uniquely redesigns the bones, cartilage, and structure for form and function while preserving the patient's unique facial composition.
Can rhinoplasty improve my breathing?
Yes. In addition to cosmetic refinement, rhinoplasty can correct breathing problems caused by a blocked airway, such as a deviated septum. During your complimentary consultation at Luxxery Boutique in Waldorf, MD, our plastic surgeon will evaluate both the aesthetic and functional concerns of your nasal structures to develop a personalized treatment plan.
